Here's how to get hourly weather data from your US airport of choice:
(1)  From the above address, scroll to the fourth large data group, "Surface Data: Hourly".
(2)  In the "Surface Data: Hourly" section, click on "U.S. -- Select by Station (Unedited Surface Weather Obs, 10A/B)".
(3)  This will take you to a series of pages that will allow you to choose the airport and date that you need.
(4)  This data costs $2/day, but you can buy subscriptions to individual airports, or the entire data base, for a reasonable fee. (Data is available FREE to those with .edu, .mil and .gov e-mail addresses.) After you have selected your airport and date(s), and after you have paid for the data with a credit card, you will then be able to click on links that will allow you to open the data files.
(5)  The most conservative approach is to download both the A and B forms, since they contain different data and occasionally data on the A form will be needed. In general, the B form provides the most useful information. Both the Fully Formatted and ASCII Files should be downloaded. (Total = 4 files.)
(6) The easiest way to download an ASCII form is very straightforward: Open the Form,  Press "Select All" (Alt+E, A), then copy the data to the clipboard (Control+C), then open a page in Excel and paste the data (Control+V). Sometimes the data must be straightened up a bit by using Text to Columns, but often the pasted data needs no further fuss. The data can then be manipulated in Excel as usual.
